Well, yesterday we went to meet with my radiation oncologist here in Franklin. I was so very apprehensive and not at all looking forward to the meeting. But, with a “team” of advocates there with me – Lucky, my primary care physician, Dr. Dan Halford, and my daughter, Katie – I became more confident to hear what will be going to be the next steps.
The Vanderbilt- Ingram Cancer Center here in Franklikn were wonderful! They were so caring, concerned, informative and organized that it put me at total ease. Then we met Dr. Tony Cmelak, MD, Medical Director of the Radiation Oncology Clinic in Franklin. He was so personable, professional and spoke to us so clearly, that actually, when it was all done, I had no questions, which was a complete surprise to me. I understood everything he told us and had the others listening for me, as well. They did a scan and put together a “mask” that will be used for the first procedure, which will be middle of next week. I actually left there feeling calm, confident and assured with the people in whose care I will be at least throughout July.
We had a good rest in the afternoon before good friends came by with dinner and to visit for a while, pray over us and read Scripture.
We worked really hard in our home office last night and both slept well, I am so proud to say.
Lucky and I are adjusting back to being a couple together here in our home after his 3 year “gig” in Alaska. It brings both joys and challenges, but we are trying to make everything fun as much as possible.
We are both just amazed at the outpouring of friends, family and strangers on our behalf. Thanks and praise to each one of you who have brought your smiles, pracital helps and love to us. What a huge blessing friend are, especially now.
VISITORS: Sorry, but visitors wear me out, and my direction from my physicians is rest and recuperation. Please do not plan to visit at least until we give an all clear perhaps next weekend (22nd) or later. You may call the house – I answer the phone most of the time – and I can talk to you and let you know when the visitor restriction is off. Also, you are welcome to come by, leave a note on the door (we have paper and pen outside for you), and I will know you care and came. Thanks so much for understanding!
Honestly, God has me in a very peaceful, balanced, optimistic frame of mind. It is the peace that passes all understanding, you know. Don’t stop praying, please. We need your cover right now and for quite a while to come. We would not want to even go through this without you sweet friends lifting us up every chance you get. Thank you so much!
TODAY’S BIG ANSWER: In that wonderful regard, because of your prayers, let me tell you that Lucky was offered a great job this morning with Williamson County Schools. He is so excited and pleased, and I am relieved for his anxiety to be lessened. The door just easily and quickly opened, as we were confident it would with all the prayer support. Now please pray with thanksgiving for God’s very best answer to that need for him that He has taken care of.
Will update again in a day or two. Have read and loved all your notes back to me. Thanks again.
Life is hard, but God is good!
