Weekends sure are a time for catching up on rest and a slower pace. We have done just that and watched tons of football. Sorry UGA and sorry Vanderbilt, but we loved seeing Auburn and LSU wins yesterday. Katie brought Cade (now 6 months) down to the house yesterday for the Auburn/Vandy kick-off, along with my Dad, to watch the Vandy/AU game, such as it was. Katie brought lunch for us all, as well. We had a great time together, and I think it was very good for Dad to be with us. THANKS, KATIE for everything. You really know how to make family feel happy to be together.
This weekend coming up will be family football time, as well. It is Vanderbilt’s homecoming, and each year, my parents sponsor us at a homecoming “brunch” on campus. Since they play UGA, many family members are coming into town – J.J. and his sweet family from Cary, NC, my brother and his sweet wife, Anne, from Atlanta, and my nephew and his sweet family from Charlotte. Katie and Brock and Cade are here as we are, so we should have a crowd. Hopefully, Vandy will “show up” to play football. We understand the game has been postponed until late afternoon, so the brunch will likely be lunch. Whatever, it will be fun to be with family.
This week, I hope to be able to get in to see my oncologist. Since we cancelled the appopintment last Monday, I am falling behind with my questions to him. Will be sure to let you all know if I get to see him and what he says additionally as far as further treatment, etc.
I sleep well at night but only for short hours, which is fine. Naps happen quickly and well in the day time. I am told these sleep times are when my body heals, so let the sleep come! Also working hard during my awake hours on getting our first clinic started back again in 2 1/2 weeks. Lots of communication from patients – almost as much as peak season, which surprises me. Everyone seems excited for our clinic start-up again. I get really tired returning phone calls and emails each day. Lanette Strimaitis is coming to help me put it all together on Friday of this week – vaccine order deadline day. Hopefully, she will be willing and interested enough to back-fill me in times of illness again, so we don’t have to stop the clinic for 5 months again. Thank you, Lord, for supplying my friend Lanette.
Thank you all for your continuing love, support, interest and prayers. That’s why I want to keep you well informed as to how we are doing here.
Life is hard, but God is good!
