A POST OF NEWS TO COVER THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS

So sorry to have put off and put off again sitting down to write an update in the past couple of weeks.  I am learning that people are worried about me, since no one has”heard” anything via the blog.  But, quite the contrary, these have been very good weeks.  Only slight complaint would b e lots of tiredness and weakness, but since this is due to coming down off the steroids, it really is a good, not a bad, thing.

Had another MRI done first part of last week, but won’t know the results until tomorrow at Dr. Murphy’s.  I feel good about it, though.  We were able to get it done at Williamson Medical, so, praise God, we didn’t have to go to Nashville.

Have had good “work-outs” with the physical therapist twice each week, and I do the same on my own the other days.  This really seems to be helping my recovery lots.

Today is an appointment with the Vanderbilt radiation oncologist who was in charge of my radiation therapy all summer.  I think this is only an exit appointment, as I have heard they were very aggressive this summer, and that there really is nothing left for them to offer me – they’ve done their work.  I’ll let you know, though.

Just returned from this appointment.  It was good.  Dr. Cmelak told me that the MRI from last week looked good and that they were done with everything they could do for me.  He said everything from the MRI looked normal as it would at this amount of time following the radiation treatments and that things are progressing well.  So, we considered this a good appointment for sure.

Tomorrow the appointment is with my ‘medical team leader’, Dr. Patrick Murphy, my oncologist.  I think lots more inforamation will come out of this appointment including the results of the recent MRI.  I’ll try to post the news tomorrow night.

Last weekend, Katie brought her 6 month old (Cade) and my dad (88 years old) down to the house along with lunch, so we could all watch Vanderbilt and Florida on tv.  It was great having 4 generations together.  And, it is always nice to have family on the weekend.  This weekend is the big Georgia / Auburn game, and we don’t speak to one another until it is all over and someone has “bragging rights”.  What fun!

Yesterday a sweet friend from choir took me to a half way meeting point where I met my mother.  I went with her then on to our garden club, and all the ladies were so sweet and glad to see me.  It was a good day.  Also, I have a luncheon (Christian Women in the Marketplace) on Thursday a friend will take me to.  Also, we have a double “date” with friends on Friday night for supper and our local playhouse, Pull-Tight.  So, my social calendar is full and the rest of the time is filled with laundry, dog walking, kitchen work, exercise, etc.  I think staying busy has helped in my healing, as well, keeping my bones moving and blood flowing.

We are headed for Charleston, SC, for Thanksgiving with old friends – they are not old but our age; but I have known them and been good friends since high school.  We welcome the change of pace, routine and scenery.

The news is all good.  Thanks for caring!  Please don’t stop praying.  God is really taking care of me physically and mentally, and I know it is because of all the faithful prayer warriors lifting me/us up.  Thank you so much.

Life is hard, but God is good!
