BOTH GLAD AND SAD NEWS – Nov. 29, 2007

Well, the glad news is that our Charleston trip was just wonderful.  Our very good friends, Beth and Howard Martin, couldn’t have done more for us.  They did and did for us, as we ate, went sight seeing all over Charleston (ocean shore, carriage ride, Ft. Sumter) and  as we all relaxed in their lovely home and watched movies and football at night – War Eagle!  We even visited their church with them on Saturday night.  It is just one darn long way out to Charleston from here, but Lucky did a great job driving all that way in lots of rain and traffic, especially through Knoxville on the way back.  It is a 9 – 12 hour trip any way you take it, and we were both exhausted upon return but so glad we had gone.  Thank you, Beth and Howard, for loving us and for all you did for us.  I wlll call you soon.

And the sad news was at an oncologist appointment upon return (this past Monday.) Basically, the doctor told me at this point there is nothing more they can do – my platelet count is still too low to continue chemo or have surgery, and the radiation is all over – they have done everything they can as aggressively as they can.  Even though the platelets ARE comimg up (now in the 70’s), that is not good enough for further treatment, so we are just going from MRI to MRI to see what inflamation and growth are still going on in the brain.  Next MRI is in 2 weeks (Tuesday, Dec. 11) with a report on it from the doctor on Dec. 13th.  I’ll be sure to let you know what we learn.

Please don’t stop praying.  We both totally believe in the power of prayer to change our lives and circumstances.  So, thank you in advance for that.

Life is hard, but God -

I am really sorry to hear about those platelets but I am really happy to hear about the ones that are climbing in the 70’s. Lord bless Carol. Give her back her health and let the next reports be so much better. Thank you Lord for their holiday and for Lucky’s driving :-) to see their friends and that Carol got to ride in a carriage in Charleston, something I have always wanted to do and never done. Love you both and please let us know if you need anything…Joan Hall

The Lord has provided us with multitudes of miracles and I know that He will provide a healing for you that is beyond what we can believe and understand. I am praying for His healing hands to be upon you. I pray you feel the presence of the Holy Spirit who surrounds you with His love and mercy. You are supported by all of us who love you and are praying for you. All our love, Larry and Laura

Praise God for your wonderful trip. Those memories are priceless. God is still God. He may want to show himself in a way only He can. He does not need chemo to make you well.
    Love,
    Cammy

Hey Carol, we sure miss having you guys around. We had a great time with you and look forward to the next one. God is in charge and maybe you just need a little rest right now from all things. Those platelets are on the rise, we will just keep the faith going. Love you, Beth

Hi Carol. So glad you had a super trip to Charleston. What a lovely place! I can just see you enjoying it! Your comment about the long drive reminded me of the long drive we had to Emerald Isle, NC! And then the time we flew, my luggage was lost, remember that? Two days on the beach with nothing but black slacks! But we had such fun! I often remember our vacations together with a smile!
Thank you for keeping us posted. I will intensify my prayers!
    Love you!

    Dearest Carol & Lucky,
We were disappointed in your news but confident in God. We love you so much and have prayed for a quick recovery. We are thankful your trip was so fun-filled and blessed with warm memories. We will not loose hope. “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?” (Jer. 32:27). The answer is: “Ah Lord God! Behold, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thy great power and by Thine outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for Thee.” (Jer. 32:17) Father God, please bring healing to Carol in Christ’s name. We give You the praise.

Carol, I am so happy you and Lucky had a great experience with friends in that beautiful coastal city. It is true southern hospitality. I was born and bred there!. I am thinking of you and lifting you up in prayer to the Greatest Physician I know , our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.
